An expert on the economy spoke on Euronews Albania on some of the key points mentioned in the latest Department of State report on the investment climate in Albania.
Fatos Çoçoli explained that DOS was pretty clear in telling foreign investors, particularly American ones, not to trust Albanian courts due to widespread corruption.
The expert on the economy emphasized that there is no free competition in public procurement procedures.
He also stressed that all concessionary contracts must be scrutinized, mainly in cases when the only ones competing were Albanian companies.
According to the expert, when foreign companies participate in procurements, it is more difficult to pick out a winning company.
Weighing in on the justice reform, Çoçoli said that the vetting process failed to eradicate corruption among the lines of prosecutors, judges, and lawyers.
He also claims that many judges and prosecutors that are aware that they will be ousted from the vetting process are abusing even more than before just because they know that their time in office is limited.
