9 people have been arrested by the Italian police after a months-long investigation into a network of fabrication of fake diplomas issued by a private university in Albania.

The investigation of the Guarda di Finanza has revealed that from Tirana thousands of fake diplomas were sold to Italian citizens.

According to the Italian media, but also the investigation file, part of the scheme is also an official of the Albanian government who has favored the Italians to build the scheme through the Wisdom University College.

The Italian document says that the official of the accreditation of diplomas in Albania was bribed in a case with an expensive Louis Viton bag worth 2 thousand euros.

Among those detained in Italy is Savino Cianci, who in Albania is the administrator of Wisdom University College.

During the action, 10 million euros of assets were also seized.

Even though in Italy diplomas or qualifications would not have legal value, charges of forgery, fraud and money laundering have been brought against those arrested.
