The twenty-eight investigators of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) that received a positive response on security criteria have now officially entered their first training classes at the Faculty of Security and Investigations near the Security Academy.

Sources for Euronews Albania confirmed that lecturers from the FBI will arrive in the next few days to follow and certify the entire process.

Half of NBI’s structure will take a life of its own in the next few months, while the application deadline for the other 32 investigators expires on April 20.

NBI’s director Aida Hajnaj urged candidates to show “integrity” and “professionalism” in joining the team that will work closely as an ally and under the directives of SPAK to tackle corruption and organized crime.

“We call on all candidates that demonstrate integrity and professionalism and that fulfill the criteria to apply prior to the 20 of April 2021. Watch out for the announcement on the official NBI webpage and follow the guidelines”, declared NBI’s chief.

Over 600 candidates responded to the first call, but after several phases, only 28 succeeded.

As the race reopened, NBI specified how points are added up, including for the physical test which so far has been largely contested.
