Europol Backs Albania in Fight Against Cyber and Organized Crime

The Director General of the Albanian State Police, Major Director Ilir Proda, was received in The Hague for a working and friendly meeting by Europol’s Executive Director, Catherine De Bolle.

During the meeting, De Bolle praised the commitment and determination of the Albanian Police in operations carried out under the EMPACT platform, highlighting its professionalism and reliability in the fight against organized crime. She guaranteed further support from Europol, both in operational activities as well as in technical assistance and information exchange.

For his part, Director Proda reiterated the State Police’s dedication to deepening cooperation with Europol and other European law enforcement agencies. “The Albanian Police is fully committed to strengthening operational and investigative coordination with international partners,” he stated.

The discussions also focused on shared challenges in the fight against illegal migration, organized crime, and cybercrime. Both sides emphasized the need for harmonizing the structures of the Albanian Police with those of EU member states, as well as for wider use of Europol’s analytical products to enhance investigative capacities.

Director Proda was accompanied by Neritan Nallbati, Director of the Criminal Police Department. At the end of the meeting, Proda officially invited Europol’s Executive Director, Catherine De Bolle, to visit Albania and the facilities of the State Police.
