‘Hajro Cakërri’ neighborhood in Vlora. Footage filmed this Friday morning, a week after the October 4 floods, clearly shows the damage caused to this residential block, where about 30 families live.
You can still see the signs of flooding, moisture on the walls of the houses and mud in the alleys, which are difficult to access.
The alarming situation in which Vlora was involved was unbearable for all Vlora families, but the most affected remain pensioners and the elderly.
“Why don’t those from the municipality come once to see who drowned? No one has come, I have all day today and the mud is still not gone, come and see how it has been done”, says an elderly woman.
According to the citizens, the main cause that brought the torrential rains to their homes was the non-functioning of the canal near the ‘Hajro Cakëri’ neighborhood, for which they have been complaining for months to fix it.
According to residents, the work of inspectors on the ground to assess the damage caused is a very slow process.
According to civil emergencies, 323 homes and 73 businesses damaged by the floods of October 4 have been verified so far. 200,000 euros have been provided by civil emergencies to pass to those affected by the floods.
