The coastal city of Durrës has transformed into a hub of folklore in recent days, hosting the 6th edition of the International Folk Dance & Music Festival.

Artists, musicians, and dancers from 10 different countries — including Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Sweden, and Bosnia-Herzegovina — brought to the stage a vibrant mosaic of cultures, traditions, and traditional rhythms.

Participants expressed great enthusiasm for the hospitality and the event’s organization.

“I come from a village in Bulgaria. Together with my sister, we’ve brought traditional songs and dances. She will perform with a typical instrument from our region,” said one participant.

“It’s our first time in Albania and we’re amazed by the beauty of the country and the warmth of its people. It’s a bit hot for us, but we’ll perform a traditional Swedish song,” said two performers from Sweden.

“We’re representing Durrës and it’s our fourth time participating. We’re proud to be part of this festival,” said the Albanian representatives.

The festival aims to preserve and promote the folkloric heritage of different peoples through cultural exchange that transcends borders and fosters connection among communities. This year’s edition is being considered one of the most successful to date, giving Durrës not only the profile of a tourist destination but also of a cultural one.
