For the past 6 days, in Albania there have been less than 100 daily cases with COVID-19. The drop in infections has been accompanied by a decrease in the number of patients that are receiving treatment in the hospital.

During the last 6 days, on the other hand, there have been 11 fatalities whereas since the beginning of the pandemic in Albania, the total number of victims is 2 408.

The renowned doctor, Tritan Kalo through a status on Facebook this morning wrote that May 8th marked the first 24 hours with 0 infected patients in the Infective Hospital Covid-1.

While considering this a win in the worldwide battle with the pandemic, he added that it is too soon to speak with certainty but the country is on the right path to getting out of the long dark tunnel it has been trying to get out of this past 14 months.

Despite these positive developments, Dr. Kalo calls for continued compliance to protective measures, the use of masks, keeping personal hygiene, and social distancing, while appealing with citizens to not refuse the vaccine because this would help in the battle against the pandemic.
