Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, has announced that preparations are underway to constitute the Assembly of Kosovo as soon as possible and to form the new government. Kurti stressed that the budget and international agreements need to be approved without delay. He said the budget should be finalized in February.

“We are preparing to constitute the Assembly as quickly as possible and to form the Government as soon as possible, because, as you know, we have three international agreements with the World Bank and, at the same time, the Growth Plan with the European Union worth €882.6 million, which we need to approve as soon as possible in the Assembly of the Republic—without forgetting what is our greatest responsibility and obligation, and I would say also a preference, and that is the budget for 2026.

You know that as of December 1 the Government can continue only through February; we cannot continue like this in March. By February, we must have finalized the 2026 budget,” he said.

He also announced that the new government cabinet will include names previously proposed as well as new ones.

“There will be many of the names that both Glauk Konjufca and I presented in the autumn of last year, but it will not be identical—there will also be other names,” he said.

Asked about the post of president of the state, Kurti said that first these three steps need to be completed, after which they will move on to the fourth step.
