Former deputy Interior Minister Rovena Voda appeals ‘house arrest’ ruling

The former deputy Interior Minister, Rovena Voda has appealed the ruling issued to her by the Special Court, which decided to place her under house arrest after allegations of ‘Illegal influence peddling’.

In her appeal, Voda claims that there is no condition foreseen by the law that would force her to remain under house arrest, seeing that there is no risk of her leaving the country or ruining the evidence.

On the other hand, the former public official at the Ministry of Internal Affairs has refused all allegations, including exercising her influence in order to get citizen Florida Beu, a job in our public administration. The latter as well as Majlinda Hasani are also placed under house arrest under the same allegations.

The Criminal Code article related to the accusations raised by SPAK foresees a jail time from 6 months to up to 3 years for those giving the favors and 4 years for those accepting them.

Voda left office on July 29th 2020, after leading it since May 22nd 2017. During this time span she has simultaneously been in the lead of the Central Task Force against the cultivation and traffic of cannabis.
