Albanian former prime minister Sali Berisha said that the remarks of US Ambassador Yuri Kim to “distance itself” from him are “offensive”.
According to him, Ambassador Kim “flagrantly breached her mission when asking DP leader to exclude Sali Berisha from parliament”.
Berisha stated to be determined in taking up his parliamentary mandate, adding that no “slander or fabrication can stop his mission bestowed by the Albanian electorate in the protection of the national interest”.
The former Prime Minister said PM Edi Rama and George Soros stand behind the decision of the US Secretary of State to designate him as persona non-grata.
Berisha claims that Secretary Blinken has not published any evidence for his involvement in “corruptive affairs that undermine democracy in Albania”.
In regards to the US Ambassador’s comment that “the DP should not eat grass for the sake of one MP”, Berisha said it is “offensive and anti-Albanian”.
