Albanians from across the region and the diaspora are set to gather in Tirana on October 17 to protest for justice on behalf of the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).
The protest will take place at Skanderbeg Square, the Organization of KLA War Veterans (OVL-UÇK) announced during a press conference.
OVL-UÇK Chairman Hysni Gucati, speaking from Tirana, said this protest follows previous demonstrations held in Pristina and The Hague.
“The reasons are already clear and well known to the public: the injustice being carried out in the Specialist Court against the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army. We, as fellow fighters and representatives of war veterans, express our eternal gratitude to the government of Albania for its continuous care and support for this major national cause. Our message is simple and clear: Justice for the liberators against the injustice being done to them,” Gucati said.
He called on all Albanians, wherever they live, and on political parties from Albania, Kosovo, and Montenegro to join the peaceful protest in Tirana.
“This is not only an issue of a few individuals; it is an issue for all of us, an issue of dignity, sacrifice, and historical truth. Let us rise together with one voice to demand justice for our liberators and to oppose injustice,” he added.
Gucati also emphasized Albania’s active contribution:
“Tirana is doing a lot for the members of the Kosovo Liberation Army, especially Prime Minister Edi Rama. We are witnesses to how the Albanian government has pushed for a joint Kosovo-Albania resolution to present to the Council of Europe, since only Albania has this right, as Kosovo is not a member. I believe and hope that the Albanian government will not be absent and will give its maximum contribution,” Gucati said.
Meanwhile, Xhavit Jashari, head of the Association of Families of KLA Martyrs, declared that the Specialist Court is trying to tarnish the just and righteous war of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
