More than half of adults in Albania consider the economy to be the country’s most important national problem. According to the latest global survey by Gallup, 58% of respondents cite high prices, low wages, and living standards as their dominant concerns.

Albania is among the group of countries where more than half of the population views the economy as the primary national issue. This level of concern is significantly higher than the global average, where only 23% of adults identify the economy as the most important national problem.

The trend varies depending on a country’s income level. In high-income countries, an average of 21% of citizens identify the economy or the inability to afford basic needs such as food and housing as the main issue. This share rises to 31% in upper-middle-income countries, 36% in lower-middle-income countries, and 38% in low-income countries. In the latter group, 14% specifically mention basic needs such as food and housing—far more than in any other income group.

The survey highlights the economic challenges facing Albanian citizens and those living in low-income countries, showing that the economy remains the central issue of public debate and concern.
