With 12 votes in favor, 3 against and 1 abstention, the Law Commission approved this Monday the return of online gambling only. The approval in the commission was made only with the votes of the majority, after the opposition voted against.

Deputy Minister for Economy and Finance, Vasilika Vjero, said that from the checks carried out, it was noticed that sports betting was working illegally.

DP MP, Dhurata Çupi raised some concerns that accompany this return of sports betting.

Licensing for companies will be for 10 years, while the fee will double to 400 million lek. In 2018, the government closed over 4,000 sports lotto outlets across the country, banning gambling in Albania, both in physical stores and online.
