Nikoll Gegaj, former mayor of the municipality of Tuzi in Montenegro, says that this is the first year when the holiday of November 28 has been institutionalized for Albanians in Montenegro, in the use of national symbols and the Albanian flag.
In an interview for Euronews Albania, Gegaj said that under these conditions, in the joint meeting of the parliaments of Kosovo and Albania, there should also be Albanians from other regions like Montenegro, North Macedonia and Presheva.
“Despite the fact that the municipality of Tuzi and other places in Montenegro have been colored with red and black flags for days, during this year the holiday of November 28 has been institutionalized for Albanians in Montenegro, that is, with a flag and an anthem. Montenegro is in a very big political and institutional crisis. Regardless of the situation, we in Montenegro celebrate Flag Day. This is the most unifying holiday of Albanians, the day when Skangerbeg and Ismail Qemali built the 500-year-old bridge that brought Albanians out of the darkness. With the raising of the flag, the Albanians returned to the European family”, said Gegaj.
