The German Ambassador to Pristina, Jörn Rohde, voiced criticism on Monday towards the Serb List for its silence concerning the deadly armed attack against the Kosovo Police in the northern region of the country a day earlier.

The incident, which occurred on September 24, involved a confrontation between the Kosovo Police and an armed group in the predominantly Serbian-populated northern part of Kosovo.

Sadly, a Kosovo Police officer named Afrim Bunjaku lost his life due to injuries sustained in the attack.

The Serb List, the largest political party representing Serbs in Kosovo and with strong support from Belgrade, has so far refrained from making any statements regarding the recent events.

“As the whole world, including the Serbian Orthodox Church, is shocked and condemns yesterday’s events: I wonder whether also Srpska Lista [Serb List] will stop its silence and join us all in our clear stance against this murderous attack on the Kosovo Police,” The German Ambassador shared on the X platform, formerly known as Twitter.

Kosovo authorities reported that three assailants were killed in the operation, while six individuals suspected of having ties to them were taken into custody. Approximately 30 individuals had taken control of the Banjska Monastery in the village of Zvecan and the surrounding area during the incident.

On Sunday, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić attributed blame to Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti, suggesting that “some Kosovo Serbs” had taken action to establish barricades in protest against what they perceived as Kurti’s oppressive policies.

In response, Prime Minister Kurti contended that the attack had received support from Serbia and described the perpetrators as a professional and organized group, distancing them from mere smugglers. He claimed that this group had been politically, financially, and logistically supported by official authorities in Belgrade.
