From today, October 3rd, until October 8th, Tirana and other cities across Albania will transform into vibrant hubs of German culture through a variety of artistic, musical, and academic events organized as part of German Cultural Week.

The festivities, supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sports, begin on October 3rd at the New Bazaar in Tirana, where “Street Fest” will bring a Bavarian atmosphere with traditional music, typical cuisine, and information booths on studies, scholarships, and German-Albanian cooperation. That same evening, Tunèl Music Venue will host electronic music performances by German and Albanian DJs, introducing for the first time in Tirana the renowned format “HÖR on Tour.” The event continues on October 4th and 5th with “HÖR Pop Up” at the Pyramid, featuring live performances streamed globally.

At the same time, cultural activities will be held in Shkodër, Vlorë, Peshkopi, and Tirana: the presentation of Alketa Ramaj’s art book in Shkodër, the screening of the German film “Two by One” at Millennium Cinema, a lecture on contemporary art by artist Stephan Kaluza at the University of Arts, as well as special concerts with German and Albanian musicians – from classical and blues recitals to crossover programs combining saxophone, piano, and Albanian folk music.

A special highlight will take place on October 4th near the Artificial Lake Dam with the event “ON lake, WOW Albania,” which will feature animations and Grimm Brothers’ fairy tales for children, a piano recital dedicated to Richard Wagner, and a performance by one of the world’s most renowned DJs, Anja Schneider.

German Cultural Week will conclude on October 8th in Peshkopi, where students of “Said Najdeni” School will present their film about intercultural experiences in Germany, while German saxophonist Ralf Benschu and pianist Elham Peyman will perform a program blending classical music with Albanian tradition.

Following Germany, the spotlight will turn to the Netherlands, whose rich culture will be showcased free of charge from October 9th to 11th.
