Chair of the Foreign Policy Committee Mimi Kodheli joined a meeting to discuss the Berlin Process with counterparts from Western Balkan nations. This gathering was convened by the Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee of the German Bundestag, Michael Roth.

The meeting included heads of Foreign Affairs Committees from North Macedonia, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as Serbia.

Scheduled for October 16 in Tirana, the Berlin Process Summit aims to advance the European agenda for Western Balkan countries. According to Roth, initiating open and honest exchanges, particularly at the parliamentary level, is vital for this purpose.

Roth emphasized, “The European Union’s wholeness is incomplete without the Western Balkans. The German Government is committed to swift integration of this region. This initial meeting of its kind is a stepping stone, with plans to intensify similar gatherings. The goal is to foster discussions among colleagues around the same table, avoiding bilateral talks and focusing on common regional interests”.

On the other hand, Kodheli expressed gratitude to Roth for the invitation and underscored the Berlin Process as a vital tool for the Western Balkans’ journey toward EU integration. The Albanian Presidency, she explained, concentrates on various themes, including energy security, the green agenda, education, digitalization, cyber security, and an investment plan.

Notably, Montenegro was absent from the meeting due to its ongoing government formation process following recent elections.
