The head of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, was punched in the face on Tuesday by Gert Shehu, a 31-year-old man who, according to the doctor who treated him, suffers from mental health problems.

The journalist of Euronews Albania, Eni Ferhati, commented on the event during “NOW with Erla Mehilli” and said that the perpetrator would train in the gym regularly.

The former senior police official, Erzen Brecani, was the person who tried to stop the aggression because after Gert Shehu punched the chief democrat, there were attempts to continue the violence against him as well.

“Mr. Brecani intervened and it was the only way to prevent another bigger consequence, then the police were notified and the person was arrested and escorted to the hospital because he had suffered obvious injuries,” Ferhati said.
