Gledis Nano was introduced on Thursday as the new General Director of the State Police during a formal ceremony.
In his address as the new chief of police, he vowed to advance the reforms in order to have more well-trained police officers and one which is based on meritocracy.
“Our objective is to have a better-trained police force, with increased capacity in the digital field, well management of all human resources based on meritocracy, which is a pre-condition to any qualitative step, and would promptly align the Albanian police with European police forces”.
Among other things, Nano said that he will promote cooperation with citizens so that the latter look up to the police as their main allies in solving their problems.
“My priority will be intensifying cooperation with all law enforcement agencies in the country, international partners, and the missions assisting the Albanian police”, said Nano.
In his remarks, Nano also mentioned his father, a former police officer, as his main inspiration.
