Government Grants Special Pensions to Renowned Artists, from Agim Bajko to Kosta Kamberi

The Council of Ministers has approved a series of decisions granting special state pensions to well-known artists and athletes, as well as setting compensation schemes and financial support for various social categories for the year 2025.

According to the decision, the government has awarded an additional special state pension equal to ten times the social pension to prominent figures in art and sports. Beneficiaries include Agim Nuri Bajko, Agustin Pjetër Kola, Aishe Daut Stari, Edera Kabil Alibegaj, Kostandin Aleko Kamberi, Kostandin Llazar Shkurti, Kujtim Rexhep Vorpsi, Leonard Sifi Toska, Nikolin Luigj Gurakuqi, Rapo Selman Tao, Shegushe Hysni Bebeti, Vasillaq Thoma Ruci, and Virxhil Athanas Karaja. The decision recognizes their outstanding contribution to the country’s cultural and sporting life.

At the same time, the Council of Ministers approved monthly income compensation schemes for pensioners and beneficiaries of social programs, depending on income levels. The compensation provides for:

  • up to 1,800 lekë per month for individuals with income up to 40,000 lekë;
  • up to 800 lekë per month for individuals with income up to 22,000 lekë;
  • up to 1,000 lekë per month for individuals with income up to 18,000 lekë;
  • up to 600 lekë per month for disability pension beneficiaries with income up to 30,000 lekë;
  • up to 700 lekë per month for family pension beneficiaries with income up to 18,000 lekë.

In addition, a financial support of 15,000 lekë for the year 2025 has been approved for families and individuals receiving economic assistance, children without parental care placed in foster families, persons with disabilities, beneficiaries with paraplegic and tetraplegic disability status, blind persons, as well as personal assistants of beneficiaries of disability payments.

At the same meeting, the government also approved in principle amendments to the agreement with Germany on the avoidance of double taxation, as well as cooperation agreements with Azerbaijan in the field of combating crime. Furthermore, the technical cooperation agreement with Germany for the “Green Vjosa” project was approved, aiming at green and inclusive regional development in the area of the Vjosa National Park.

The decisions also include the establishment of the state database for the Higher Education Information Management System (SMIAL), which will be administered by the Educational Services Center.

In the field of reconstruction, the Council of Ministers approved the use of reconstruction funds amounting to over 37 million lekë for individual housing in the Municipality of Shijak, as well as over 315 million lekë for the reconstruction of the joint secondary school “Ramazan Karaj” in the Municipality of Krujë.

These decisions aim to strengthen social protection, recognize figures with national contributions, and continue strategic projects in education, the environment, and reconstruction.
