The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy has launched the race that will see a company win the tender for the construction of the new Saranda airport.
Minister Balluku said that bids may be submitted until September 23 and underlined that its costs will be around €37 million.
A preliminary study for the construction of this airport was initially conducted in 2010 through a private investment where the state will not have financial guarantees for the compensation of the number of passengers.
The infrastructure minister said that the airport will be also be used domestically, for round trip Saranda-Kukes flights, and it will remain generally open during the summer season.
The length of the runway will be 2,200 meters, while the airport is expected to handle 150,000 passengers in its first year.
