Sources from the Ministry of the Interior, which is following cases of extraditions of high-risk and corrupt persons, confirmed to Euronews Albania that the Court of Appeal of Ioannina has given a positive decision for the extradition of Laert Haxhi.
“The Court of Second Instance of Ioannina decided positively on the extradition of Haxhiu. But Haxhiu has the right, according to the Greek legislation, to request a review of his extradition by the Supreme Court”, the court’s decision states.
Haxhiu is being tried in Albania for the Lushnja massacre in 2017, an event for which his accomplices Orges Bilbili and Anterio Kaloshi were previously sentenced to life imprisonment. Laert Haxhiu is under arrest in Greece, where he has sought asylum, while Albania is seeking his extradition.
Lately, he was exposed by the testimony of Artan Tafani regarding some serious criminal events of recent years, where according to him he planned to commit assassinations against 2 prosecutors and a lawyer.
