One of the highest-ranking officials from former U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration, Richard Grenell, has harshly criticized Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti.
Grenell stated that Kurti’s government has not been trustworthy for the U.S., neither during Trump’s first term nor under Biden’s administration. He emphasized that both Republicans and Democrats have continuously criticized Kurti for undertaking unilateral actions that destabilize the region.
He also accused Kurti of falsely portraying himself as close to the U.S. In his statement on X, Grenell urged the people of Kosovo not to be deceived by Kurti’s rhetoric.
“I have many friends in Kosovo and Albania… and many friends in Serbia and across the region. The Trump administration has worked and will continue to work toward peace for everyone in the Balkans. But we need reliable partners.
Kurti’s government was not trustworthy during Trump’s first term, nor during Biden’s administration. Both Republicans and Democrats have repeatedly criticized Kurti for taking unilateral actions that destabilize the region. The same goes for the EU and NATO.
The international community is united against Kurti. American companies are expanding in Albania and Serbia, but not in Kosovo because of Kurti.
Kurti has also opposed every American proposal put forward by Presidents Clinton, Bush, Obama, Biden, and Trump.
His current rhetoric, claiming to be closer to the U.S. and better than all previous Kosovar governments, is absolutely false. Don’t be deceived,” Grenell wrote on X.
I have many friends in Kosovo and Albania…and many friends in Serbia and throughout the region.
The Trump Administration has worked and will continue to work towards peace for everyone in the Balkans.
But we need trustworthy partners.
The Kurti Government was not…
