The former MP of the Democratic Party, Grida Duma said to Euronews Albania journalist Ilva Tare that DP can’t possibly concede the elections, under the current circumstances when 85 thousand votes are deemed invalid, which according to her at least 70 % in the area she covered for, are DP’s.
While pointing out the fact that DP chose to run a campaign that was focused on problem-solving instead of dealing with the opponent; this happened because as she said, taking advantage of people’s hate to fight your political battle isn’t the way to go to run the country.
Duma confirmed the fact that DP’s battle in parliament will continue, but at the same time, they will continue to look for the last vote that was meant for and could have gone to DP.
“I believe that the battle in Parliament should continue, but we should search for the will of even the last vote of DP.
We ask for an election recount, where we are certain that there have been discrepancies and deviations with the invalid votes, where we believe the voter’s will was manipulated, but if we speak of mandates, they will be treated as parliamentary mandates,” said Duma.
