The Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, who is in India, participated in the ninth edition of the “Raisina Dialogue”.
During the session on the consequences of a divisive policy, Minister Hasani focused on the situation in the Western Balkans.
“What we see again in the Western Balkans, a region that has produced, in one way or another, more world history than it has consumed. We see that these tendencies of revisiting history and using examples of our bloody past in the 1990s are creating increasingly larger problems. Therefore, we need stronger international institutions and more understanding for the things we have agreed upon,” emphasized Minister Hasani.
According to the Albanian top diplomat, the engagement of all actors is needed to explore new and effective ways to build a better world.
“Multilateralism is suffering and is not suffering today. It has suffered in the past two decades. It is suffering because some countries in the world think differently and do not think that liberal democracy based on free-market economics and the rule of law is the right example to follow. Only by cooperating and engaging in international organizations, treaties, protocols, in forums like this, can we make our lives better,” he said.
The “Raisina Dialogue” is India’s premier conference on geopolitics and geo-economics, organized since 2016 by the Observer Research Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs of India.
This year, representatives from 100 countries worldwide participated in this prestigious event.
In the sidelines of this event, Minister Hasani also met with the Secretary General of the European Union External Actions Service (EEAS), Stefano Sannino, emphasizing Albania’s commitment to full alignment with the EU foreign policy.
“In the face of global challenges, acceleration of the EU integration process for Albania and the Western Balkans remains crucial for regional and European peace, security, and stability,” Hasani wrote on X (previously known as Twitter).
