The US President has nominated David J. Kostelancik for the post of Ambassador of the United States to Albania.

Mr. Kostelancik served at the US embassy in Albania in the early 90s, in the political office.

David J. Kostelancik currently serves as Foreign Policy Advisor to the US Chief of Staff, General Mark Milley.

Kostelancik is a career member of the Foreign Service with the rank of Minister-Counselor.

Kostelancik previously served as Deputy Chief of Mission and Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Hungary.

He has served as Director of the Office of South Central European Affairs, Director of the Office of Russian Affairs in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, and Director of the Bureau of Europe and Asia in the International Narcotics Bureau.

Kostelancik has also served twice at the US Embassy in Russia. He has served in the US Mission to the OSCE in NATO, in Tirana, and in Ankara.

A native of Illinois, he is a graduate of the National War College, where he earned a Master of Science. He also received a Master of Arts degree from the University of Michigan. He speaks Russian, Hungarian, Albanian and Turkish.
