The head of the National Archive, Ardit Bido, says that the secret document showing the amount of gold that King Zog took with him after leaving Albania in 1939, was published after it had already been studied by archivists.

In his interview for Euronews Albania’s ‘NOW’ with Erla Mehilli, Bido said that in this document, an Albanian citizen reports to the fascist militia, the amount of gold that King Zog had received, based on the information of the Greek side, after the latter had crossed the border.

According to Bido, archives constantly promote documents and added that in this institution, there are still files that have not been opened.

“We publish documents every day, it’s part of our promotion, and there is no concrete reason why a document comes out at one moment or another, other than the fact that our archivists, in their daily work, see documents that are little studied or not studied at all. There are thousands of files in the archive that have never been opened by researchers since they were processed. Consequently, this document was published a few days ago in the wake of our promotion. It is about a document, where an Albanian citizen named Gjon Lusha reports to the Fascist militia that according to the information received from the Greek side, when King Zog crossed the border of Kapshtica to Greece, he had an amount of 250 thousand golden napoleons with him,” he emphasized.
