With the arrival of 100.000 Sinovac jabs, the Ministry of Health announced that inoculation of citizens over 60 will start by next week.
“On Monday we will lower the age threshold to +60. We will start distributing the 100.000 Sinovac doses tomorrow”, said health minister Ogerta Manastirliu from Vlora, where she was inspecting a vaccination site.
The Minister confirmed that over 250.000 vaccine doses have been administered across the country, with Vlora counting 26.000 citizens who have received at least one dose.
On Monday, another batch of 7.000 Pfizer jabs is set to arrive at the airport, including another supply of Coronavac, the vaccine manufactured from China.
In light of the average reported in the past week, Albania administers 15.050 doses per day. With this average, another 38 days will be necessary to administer jabs to at least 10% of the population.
Overall, as per the agreements signed by the state as well as donations received, nearly 2.6 million COVID-19 vaccines have been secured from Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Sputnik V, and Sinovac.
