Here are the richest citizens in the EU, and the poorest
The latest Eurostat report shows that the citizens of Luxembourg are the richest in the European Union, with a purchasing power 2.5 times higher than the average of all other EU member states.
Compared to the European average, the gross product per capita is 161 percent higher in tiny Luxembourg.
This is explained by the fact that the wages of many workers from border countries are included in the Luxembourg result, according to Eurostat.
Next on the rich list is Ireland, which with its favorable taxation attracts many multinational companies, with a gross product per capita 134 percent higher than the EU average.
Denmark is third, followed by the Netherlands, Austria and Belgium. The poorest are the citizens of Bulgaria and Slovakia.
