Three new members of the High Judicial Council were appointed this Friday. Candidates who were newly appointed to this judicial body were Irena Plaku, Ridvan Hodo and Klodian Kurushi.
These new members supersede the following previous board members: Ilir Toska, Brunilda Kadi and Medi Bici.
Ridvan Hodo was appointed amongst the other members of the High Judicial Council after serving in the ranks of the Appellate Courts.
He was able to secure 140 votes, in a race against justice Vojsava Osmanaj, who was only able to win 101.
Likewise, Irena Plaku served at the First Instance Court before becoming part of the judicial council. She was able to win 158 votes, against the other candidate Majnjola Xhazho, who only won a total of 75 votes.
The High Judicial Council is a collegial body that is made up of a total of 11 members, 6 of whom are judges that have previously served in the justice system.
At the present moment, 1 member comes from the High Court, 2 from the Court of Appeals and 3 from the District Courts.
