Inflation increased slightly in December, touching the level of 4%. INSTAT data show that it remains above the normal level due to the price of food and entertainment.

After falling to an annual low during October, inflation returned to mild growth in November and December.

The Institute of Statistics calculates that during December, the price change indicator increased to 4 percent, from 3.8 and 3.9 percent that was recorded in the previous months.

Foods seem to bear the greatest weight in the inflation rate at 6.7%, which have also become more expensive due to the end-of-year holidays together with alcoholic beverages.

Likewise, entertainment, which until two years ago did not have any strong contribution to the inflation rate in December resulted in the level of 5.4%.

In order to understand the trend of inflation and household expenses, for the whole of last year, prices increased by an average of 4.8 percent compared to 2022, while the optimal level should be 3%.
