Albania is opening its doors to major players in the global film industry. For the first time, the country is hosting “Fam Tour Albania,” an initiative bringing representatives from some of the world’s most prestigious studios—HBO, Warner Brothers, Amazon, Disney, Paramount, and NBC-Universal—on a multi-day tour across various Albanian cities.
The goal of the tour is to explore Albania’s potential as a filming destination and foster international co-productions. Industry producers and decision-makers are getting an up-close look at the country’s natural beauty, historical and cultural heritage, and unique filming locations, which could serve as stunning backdrops for large-scale international productions.
At a meeting in Tirana with company executives, Albania’s Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation, Blendi Gonxhja, emphasized the government’s commitment to building a sustainable and competitive creative industry ecosystem. He highlighted ongoing efforts, including fiscal incentives, legal reforms, and investment in infrastructure and talent development.
A key milestone is Albania’s collaboration with the Catalyst Story Institute, a prominent U.S.-based organization that supports screenwriter and film creator development.
One memorable stop on the tour was the visit to the Onufri Iconographic Museum, a cultural gem that reflects the richness of Albania’s artistic heritage.
This initiative marks a significant step in positioning Albania as a rising European destination for film production, paving the way for new investments and high-profile international collaborations in cinema and the arts.
