Journalist Artan Hoxha said on Euronews Albania’s “NOW with Erla Mehilli” that he and the family of Aleks Nika requested that the January 21 case be transferred to SPAK as they no longer trust the Tirana prosecutor’s office.

According to Hoxha, in 12 years, the Tirana prosecutor’s office has never interrogated 5 key people who are directly related to the murders of January 21: Sali Berisha, Edi Rama, Lulzim Basha, Bamir Topi and Ina Rama.

“We have requested that this case be taken over by SPAK because we have lost confidence that the Tirana prosecutor’s office will investigate this properly. I have zero confidence because the prosecution has so far never interrogated Berisha, Basha, Rama, Topi or Ina Rama. When it has not interrogated them for 12 years in a row, will it do so in the first month of the 13th year? So me and the family members of Aleks Nika, the only decent family that has not accepted a single dollar, that has not exchanged the blood of their family member with the government’s money, when they got tired of waiting for justice, decided to make this choice. The first thing we will publish is the fact that we caught them by surprise,” declared Hoxha.
