Hungary confirmed its “full” and “unconditional” support for Albania’s integration into the European Union.

The statement came during a meeting between Prime Minister Viktor Orban and his Albanian counterpart Edi Rama.

“We agreed that there are no major differences in the Albanian policies between the two countries. What’s more important is the enlargement of the EU and Albania’s membership. We, Hungarians, are not only supporters but also committed to helping Albania become a part of the EU. We are convinced that without offering an opportunity for accession to this part of the continent we cannot stabilize, be that in regards to economy, and also politics”, said PM Orban.

The Hungarian premier stressed that Albania aims to increase cooperation with the country in the political, economic, and cultural sphere.

“In our perspective, Hungary is a country that has a lot of knowledge, credible, impressive and transforming experiences, where there is a lot be learned from. I am very grateful to the prime minister for his generous availability to give us all the necessary support, to transfer this knowledge, as we want to cooperate not only economic aspect, but also in the field of culture and education”, said Albanian PM Edi Rama.

During his word, Rama reiterated that Hungary has taken successful steps in improving the education sector and supporting young talents and vowed to follow the same example in Albania.

“What Hungary has done in the last couple of years to improve education, support youth and talents, encourage families to see their future with hope is inspiring”, concluded Rama.
