Former ambassador Beqë Cufaj, speaking on the program Balkan Talks with Franko Egro on Euronews Albania, commented on the elections set to be held this Sunday in Kosovo. During the discussion, Cufaj expressed skepticism, stressing that he does not believe the electoral process will go smoothly.
According to him, these doubts also stem from irregularities observed during Kosovo’s local elections.
“I don’t know, and I don’t believe it will go well. I say ‘I don’t know’ because everything depends on tomorrow’s process and on the vote itself. I remain quite skeptical that the process will proceed properly. Friends and colleagues here tell me that everything will be fine,” Cufaj said.
“I have doubts because there were major deviations in the local elections. I want to be optimistic, but we are dealing with a more complex approach—both in terms of governing mentality and the cooperative approach of Mr. Albin Kurti.
If you look back at how he has acted as prime minister, both in relations with international partners and regional allies, we come to the conclusion that we are heading toward nothing other than a rather difficult confrontation that Kosovo will face with this governing mentality,” he added.
