Uniting and cleaning up the Democratic Party were some of the main points mentioned by Fatbardh Kadilli, as he aims to take over the party’s chairmanship, as he told Euronews Albania some of the moral advantages he has against current leader Lulzim Basha.
“My determination stems from my faith in truthfulness, the need of the Democrats to radically change the DP, to create a DP that belongs in 21 Century, open, clean united and victorious,”, said Kadilli, adding that this cannot be done from the actual leader as he “has failed in the last 8 years”.
Kadilli confirmed Basha’s claims that the Socialists went beyond the powers that a party might have, but also emphasized that a party leader must create “political energy”, something that Basha was not able to succeed. Having said that, Kadilli urged Basha to “withdraw from running again”.
“Someone that has failed for eight years in a row, got defeated 4 times at the polls, shouldn’t even think about running again, that’s why I have called for, and will ask again, for his irrevocable resignation”, said Kadilli.
“A united party cannot be divided. Only in the last 4 years, four smaller parties broke away from the DP. I will reunite the party”, said Kadilli.
DP’s candidate said that those “that have the left the DP” will “find an open door” as they have “contributed for the party.
