As long as the US has security concerns, which hold it back from hosting the Afghan refugees, then Albania – a country with a much weaker security system – has even more reason to be worried, according to security expert, Ergys Muzhaqi.
The Biden administration has been holding secret talks with many countries, including Albania and Kosovo, to temporarily house a couple of thousand Afghan citizens that have collaborated with the US armed forces, which now puts their lives at risk from the Taleban.
Muzhaqi told Euronews Albania that our country should feel even more concerned and refuse to take these refugees, because amongst them, there might be infiltrated terrorists that threaten our public safety.
According to the Albanian security expert, this is the same reason that the US is hesitating to take them in.
“Within the influx of people, known as allies to the US, there could be infiltrated subjects that possess other goals, which include possible terrorist acts,” emphasized Muzhaqi.
For Muzhaqi, countries in the Middle East should have been the primary places to host these Afghan citizens, because Kosovo and Albania are many hours away, by plane.
