The new General Director of the State Police, Ilir Proda, officially took office this Thursday.

Proda took the oath in a solemn ceremony, where the senior leaders of the police management structures and the Minister of the Interior, Ervin Hoxha, were present.

During his speech, Minister Hoxha expressed his belief that Ilir Proda will bring a new pace and dynamics to the police organization.

“I am fully confident that, at the end of this reform process for the leadership structures of the police, the necessary conditions will be created to achieve the great goal: the construction of a modern police force, which will be comparable to the structures of the countries of European Union”, said Hoxha.

Proda was appointed General Director of the State Police by decision of the Council of Ministers on October 2.

He has a 19-year career in Police structures, including his role as head of several different directorates within this institution.

Ilir Proda was proposed to Prime Minister Rama by Interior Minister Ervin Hoxha, after a competition held during the month of September.
