ILO Report: How Many Albanians work an average of 41.4 hours per week, according to the latest report from the International Labour Organization (ILO).

This places Albania among the countries with long working hours, reflecting a strong level of labor market engagement but also highlighting structural challenges related to productivity and the balance between work and personal life.

Globally, working hours range between 30 and 54 hours per week. At the top of the list are Bhutan with 54.5 hours, Sudan with 50.8 hours, and the United Arab Emirates with 48.4 hours. These nations, mostly developing economies, are characterized by manual labor and service-based activities, where long schedules and intensive working conditions are common.

In contrast, economically developed countries such as Germany, France, and the United Kingdom report an average of 31 working hours per week, but with significantly higher productivity.

Within the Balkans, Montenegro ranks first with 44.2 hours per week, followed by Albania with 41.4 hours and Bosnia and Herzegovina with 40.8 hours. These countries share a similar economic profile, with high employment rates in sectors such as construction, tourism, and trade, where working hours typically exceed the European average.
