The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has revised its projections for Albania’s economic growth, forecasting steady progress amid an unstable global environment.

According to the October report, the Albanian economy is expected to expand by 3.4% in 2025 and slightly increase to 3.6% in 2026. This forecast reflects the IMF’s confidence in the resilience of the country’s macroeconomic fundamentals.

Alongside growth, the IMF projects that average inflation will remain under control. For 2025, inflation is expected at 2.3%, while in 2026, it is forecast to rise slightly to 2.8%.

Within the Western Balkans, Albania ranks among the countries with the highest growth rates.

On a broader scale, the global economy is projected to grow by 3.2% in 2025 and 3.1% in 2026, though the IMF warns of a volatile environment. Key challenges include political and trade uncertainties, rising protectionism, and potential shocks in financial markets.

To navigate these challenges, the report stresses that stable, credible, and predictable policies are essential to restoring investor confidence and maintaining economic stability.

The IMF also highlights the importance of trade diplomacy, preserving central bank independence, and implementing structural reforms as critical priorities for ensuring sustained growth prospects.
