On certain days, Albania seems to be truly within reach.

Yet, between the Salento coasts and those of the Land of Eagles, there are almost 70 kilometers of sea that, under certain weather conditions, are reduced to nothing… in one shot.

The “spectacle” of the Albanian mountains visible from the Italian coasts was captured in a photograph taken recently by Massimo Rolando in Santa Cesarea Terme, in the province of Lecce, and immediately went viral, eliciting much admiration.

The spectacle in the presence of strong winds

The phenomenon occurs in the presence of strong winds from the north (Tramontana or Maestrale), which make the air clear and dry, making Albania and its mountains appear less distant and giving those who overlook the Adriatic the view of the mountains, otherwise visible only on postcards.
