Inflation increased slightly in November, touching the level of 3.9%. INSTAT data show that it remains above the normal level due to the price of food and entertainment.
After falling to an annual low in October, inflation returned to growth last month. INSTAT calculates that during November, the price change indicator increased to 3.9 percent, from 3.8 percent in October.
Foods have been the main contributor to this performance with a level of 7.1%, followed by entertainment and culture, with inflation of 6%.
Meanwhile, groups such as transport, clothing and monthly rent and energy bills remain below 3.9%.
To understand the trend of inflation and household spending, we can analyze a product. If in 2021 it was sold for 100 ALL, in October 2022 with inflation of 8.3% it increased to 108.3 ALL. While in 2023, for a 3.9% inflation, the price reached 112.3 ALL. So the price did not decrease, but continued to rise slowly.
The comparative data of November show that the objective of going to 3% inflation can be postponed, as the forecasts of the Central Bank and the Albanian government speak of a constant decrease of it, until the middle of 2024.
