The increase in prices affected the budgets of Albanian families in 2022. The data show that average monthly expenses increased to 88 thousand ALL, while consumption decreased by over 2%.
Average monthly expenses for a family in Albania reached 88 thousand ALL in 2022. This amount is 4.5% higher than in 2021.
In terms of value, the expenses were higher and this was logical, with the high inflation that affected the country at the level of 6.7%, but in real terms, Albanian families consumed less than in 2021.
This means that the real consumption of Albanian families decreased by 2.2 percent last year.
The data released by the Institute of Statistics show that the increase in prices affected negatively family budgets, especially those with low incomes.
According to INSTAT, costs to live in Tirana were higher, where a family had to spend an average of 104,000 ALL per month, while the lowest expenses were recorded in the counties of Dibra and Kukës at 73,000 ALL.
Divided by category, last year the largest share of expenses was food with 40%, followed by taxes with 10%, and entertainment with 2.7%.
