The intense rains of the last few days in Gjirokastra have filled the Viroi lake basin with water, restoring not only a natural and environmental value but also a touristic one for the south of the country.
The artificial lake, part of the Natural Park of Viroi, at the entrance to the city of Gjirokastra, throughout this period has been dry due to the hot weather and lack of rainfall.
Rainfall of these days have significantly increased the flows in the source of the Mother of Viro from which the lake is supplied, returning the water to its basin and giving the landscape of this Natural Park a special beauty.
Residents of Gjirokastra and also tourists on Sunday took advantage of the reduction in the intensity of the rains to visit the park of Viroi and its natural surroundings.
