Interior Minister Taulant Balla held a meeting today with US Chargé Affaires H. Martin McDowell. During the meeting, the US-Albania cooperation in the field of law enforcement and support for a number of security-related issues was discussed.

According to Balla, the self-cleansing of the State Police is a process that has just entered a new phase and will continue until the end. Strengthening the cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the common fight for cleaning up the centers of crime in front of and within the organization of the State Police itself, will take Albania to another level of the rule of law.

Taulant Balla’s full post:

Cooperation with US law enforcement agencies is of strategic importance to us. With US Chargé Affaires H. Martin McDowell, we discussed US-Albania law enforcement cooperation and support for a variety of security-related issues.

The self-purification of the State Police is a process which has just entered a new phase and which will go to the end. Strengthening the cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the common fight for cleaning up the centers of crime in front of and within the organization of the State Police itself, will take Albania to another level of the rule of law.

Any findings, complaints, information about violations of the law, ethical norms and internal regulations will be fully investigated, emphasis on the security of data and sensitive systems. Our request for any possible form of support from the United States and other partners for the Ministry and the State Police is finding positive support in this regard.
