Minister of Internal Affairs, Taulant Balla, submitted an official letter to the committee for work, social issues and health, requesting that nitrogen balloons, which are being used by youth to be added to the list of narcotic or psychotropic substances.

This request of the minister, according to him, comes after concern was raised that its use brings health problems, including those of a neurological nature.

“Since these substances are not currently classified as prohibited narcotics or psychotropic substances, according to the legislation in force, there is an urgent need for their inclusion in the relevant list attached to law no. 7975 dated 26.07.1995 “On narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances”, amended.

In addition to N2O gas, we ask this commission to consider the inclusion in the list of prohibited narcotic or psychotropic substances and all new narcotic substances, identified and proposed at different times by the Scientific Police Institute, which we may make them available according to your request”, says the request of Minister Balla.
