At the time when the trial against the former leaders of the KLA in The Hague is continuing, the Specialized Chambers in Kosovo have started raids in several locations.
During this week, at their request, the houses and apartments of the former advisers of the former president of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, were raided. All these actions of the Special Court have been considered illegal.
The lawyer representing the majority of those raided says that this hunt by the prosecutor’s office is an attempt to find evidence that does not exist.
Meanwhile, Thaçi’s former advisor, Artan Behrami, whose house was raid, says that this is being done to cover up Special’s failures.
Behrami added that these actions of the Special Court do not scare them nor deter them.
In addition to Behrami’s house, checks were also made at the house of the former head of the KIA, Bashkim Smakaj, the publicist Blerim Shala, who was once an adviser to Thaçi, and the other former adviser, Smajl Syla.
In all cases, the phones and tablets owned by these persons were confiscated.
