For the second year in a row, real estate leads in foreign direct investments.

The figures of the Bank of Albania for the third quarter of the year prove that investments in property and real estate reached 95 million euros, or 24% more than last year.

During the 9 months of 2023, foreign investments in property reached a capital value of 222 million euros.

Despite the slowdown in economic growth in the country and the increase in interest rates, property purchases in the country have continued to grow, with the latter being purchased by many foreign nationals, who have been a key factor in the Real Estate market.

The second sector for the 9th month of the year is that of the extractive industry, which has generated 200 million euros of investments.

An innovation and the biggest contribution to the growth of foreign investments for this year is occupied by the financial sector, which reached 166 million euros, 80% more compared to last year.

The increase in value in this sector is closely related to the capital requirements of commercial banks which have increased.

The energy sector ranks fourth, with 121 million euros for the 9th month of 2023.

Foreign investments this year reached a record figure of 1.09 billion euros, increasing by 10.6% compared to the same period last year, largely supported by the strengthening of the lek in the exchange rate.
