Flu infections have decreased for the first time since early January when cases were continuously rising.
According to the latest report from the Institute of Public Health (IPH), in the past week, 22,506 people with flu-related symptoms and concerns were registered at family doctors and medical emergency services.
This figure, according to experts, is considered within the normal seasonal activity. Meanwhile, the previous week saw a peak with 23,397 infections, classifying the virus circulation at a very high intensity and nearing an epidemic threshold.
Among the infected, the highest trend continues to be observed in young children under the age of 5.
Regarding the geographical distribution, Durrës, Tirana, and Gjirokastra are the cities with the highest number of infections.
Among those who sought medical assistance, the majority received symptomatic treatment and continued recovery at home, while around 10% required additional care and were hospitalized in regional and municipal hospitals across the country.
