Iran will return to have a diplomatic interest in Albania. Through a section of interests in the Turkish embassy in Albania, Tehran will start again the diplomatic contact with Albania.

The decision was made during a telephone conversation on Saturday between Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu, where they discussed a number of bilateral and regional issues, among others.

Amir-Abdollahian announced that the Iranian Foreign Ministry has agreed to open the section of Iran’s interests through Turkey in Albania. He also thanked Turkey for the good offers, regarding to this.

This decision comes a few months after the termination of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the expulsion of Iranian diplomats from Albania.

Official Tirana decided to close the Iranian embassy in Albania after the cybers attack that brought down the servers of the Albanian state and stole data from the institutions. An international investigation made in cooperation with the Albanian authorities proved the links between the hackers who brought down the Albanian systems and the Iranian state.
